🔒 Your saved content, notes, reminders, and settings stay on your device. Data only leaves your browser for the specific cases described below (AI features you enable, license verification, and background compatibility checks) - never for tracking or advertising.
Data Storage
Your personal content is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage APIs (chrome.storage.sync and IndexedDB). This includes:
Feed Focus preferences - Your filter settings and focus mode configuration
Saved posts - LinkedIn posts you choose to save, along with your notes and tags
Profile notes - Private annotations you add to LinkedIn profiles
Follow-up reminders - Scheduled reminders you set for posts or profiles
Screen time statistics - Your LinkedIn usage tracking data
AI provider settings - If you enable AI features, your chosen provider and API key, stored locally and never sent to us
AI Features (Optional)
Signal includes optional AI-powered features - profile summaries and draft-message suggestions. These are off unless you configure an AI provider yourself ("bring your own key"). When you use them:
The relevant profile or post text is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you chose (Google Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic), or to a custom endpoint you configure
Your API key is stored locally on your device and used only to authenticate that request
Signal's own servers do not see, proxy, or store this content or your API key
Handling of that data once it reaches the AI provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy
Data We Do NOT Collect
Signal does NOT collect, store, or sell:
❌ Personally identifiable information
❌ Browsing history or web activity outside LinkedIn
❌ Passwords or authentication data
❌ Financial information
❌ Location data
❌ Advertising or analytics tracking data
✓ No ads, no tracking, no data sales
Permissions Usage
Signal requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality:
storage - To save your preferences and content locally
activeTab - To inject the Signal UI into LinkedIn pages
notifications - To send follow-up reminder notifications
alarms - To schedule reminders, update screen time, and periodically check for LinkedIn compatibility updates (see below)
sidePanel - To provide the Signal command center interface
linkedin.com access - To operate exclusively on LinkedIn pages
signal-api-seven.vercel.app access - Our backend, used for Pro license verification and to fetch a small compatibility-configuration file that keeps Signal working when LinkedIn changes its website. This fetch contains no personal or profile data - just a version check.
Third-Party Services
Signal Pro subscriptions are processed through Stripe, a secure payment processor. When you upgrade to Pro:
Your email is used only for license verification
Payment is handled entirely by Stripe
We do not store credit card information
If you enable AI features, your chosen AI provider (Google, OpenAI, or Anthropic) processes the profile/post text you send it, per that provider's own privacy policy - see the AI Features section above.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. Your saved content, notes, and preferences remain on your device; the only data that leaves your browser is what's described above (AI requests you initiate, Stripe billing, and the compatibility-config check).
